what do you do?
A little bit of everything! But what do I love to do? I love singing and song-writing.

why do you do it?
It’s my true passion in life. Always has been since I was young.

how do you do it?
I sing just about anything and anytime … weirdly enough I’m not a shower singer though! When I’m writing I like to listen to a beat or tune first and get inspired from there. I’ll think of a catchy line for the chorus and that usually sets the basis for the song.

who do you do it for?
Mostly myself! But when other people hear it and love my music it’s an unbelievably amazing and humbling experience. It makes me want to write more.

what do you love about singing/songwriting?
I get to be 100% myself and express my thoughts and feelings. It’s really therapeutic getting my thoughts down, never mind getting to put it into a song and having a piece of my life recorded forever.

if you could write a song for any singer who would it be?
Alicia Keys.

if you could work with any artist who would it be?
Timbaland.

are you originally from Toronto?
No. I moved here from Kingston. I absolutely love it though. This city, to me, represents opportunity and the ability to do almost anything. If you work hard at whatever you want to do, there is an opportunity for it in Toronto. I have met so many different people all on their own paths and the great thing is that all these paths are attainable here. Everyone is encouraging and open-minded.

what has been the biggest change for you moving from Kingston to Toronto?
Absolutely everything.

what has been the biggest obstacle moving to Toronto?
Trying to stay with my boyfriend.

what has been the best thing so far about moving to Toronto?
The ability to be who I am and have no one judge me for it.

what do you love?
Good company, having fun, feeling accomplished and no stress.

what do you need?
Haha I hate that this is such an obstacle but…. money. To get my songs recorded to a professional quality level, it’s very expensive.

what do you want?
To have one of my songs #1 on the charts :)

what and/or who inspires you?
People who are genuine and follow their dreams and succeed.

how did you get started?
I quit my career in commercial real estate after what I call my ‘quarter-life’ crisis and moved to Toronto. I started through craigslist and found a band to practice song writing and performing soul/funk/rock music with. I also started collaborating with some hip-hop rap producers writing. I then had a short stint with some people starting up a record label. We shortly went our ways but it really helped me to figure out exactly who I was as an artist with regards to my sound and image.

what keeps you motivated?
Every once and a while I get discouraged but it always seems that right at the moment when I’m ready to quit someone will message me and tell me how much they are inspired by what I’m doing or that they believe in me and it keeps me going :)

Who do you admire?
My mom and dad.

what's the biggest sacrifice you've made?
I left my career in commercial real estate at a family run company, and my long term boyfriend.

what's a fun fact about you?
I once beat a whole hockey team in a chugging contest!

is there an underlying concept to most of your work?
I just want people to have fun and follow their dreams.

what's the best advice you've gotten?
Being nice to people will get you much more than being rude.

what's the biggest mistake you've ever made?
Not following my dreams earlier.

what realizations have you made?
I never realized how true the saying “life isn’t easy” really was until I started pursuing my passion. But the fact that I love it so much makes it worthwhile…. But I’d love to catch a break sometime lol.
